(San Francisco, Sunday, 27th February 2000, 8.59 p.m. PST )
The culmination of another very busy week, was that I gave notice
to my landlord. So I'll be moving, come what may, at the end of March.
For the next few weeks, I'm going to be writing shorter journal entries,
since I'm going to be pressed for time from so many directions. It's gonna
be a tough month!
Friday afternoon - my project at work is temporarily on hold so I have some time to slow down
Saturday - stop over at Peters for some webmaster work.
Peter lives in such a beautiful neighborhood, with winding streets,
distant views, and hidden stairways.
Last week, I arrived at the gym one day and it was suddenly .. a Gold's
Gym (it used to be independent). There was so much turmoil, with people
being fired and then rehired. But it's looking like they're going to do
great things with the place. They may even make people start wearing
shirts!
On the way back to my car after working out, I came across a group of
lesbians doing some community latch-work right there on Market Street.
Not sure why, but whatever keeps them off the street - I mean on the street.
The one closest to the camera seems to be looking at my crotch!
Saturday night, Brett and I got together for a movie and dinner at the
Metreon. I'm still playing with my new pocket digital camera, so we
took some photos of each other. In every photo of Brett, he managed
to blink at the moment the shutter was pressed!
The pro shows Brett how to do it :)
Side view, to stop Brett from blinking. Didn't work :)
Sunday, and I spent most of the afternoon looking at apartments, with
Brian tagging along. It was strange weather, alternating between sun
and blue sky and cloudbursts. The first apartment we saw was encouraging -
nice Victorian, high ceilings. But no view, and, more importantly, no
parking!
I don't think this one is quite ready for occupancy yet!
As we arrived at the last open house of the day, we were flabbergasted
at the line of people outside. Everyone in Banana Republic :) But there
were 60-80 people waiting by the time the agent arrived, all with
check books in hand. It was a nice 1BR, with a small study, top floor,
and a view - $2100. Great location, in the Marina, but no dishwasher,
and more than I want to pay. Shame - the best one of a bunch, though.
So Brian and I retired gracefully back to his place, just as the rain
started up again. The contrast of the metal siding on Brian's modernistic
apartment building with the grey/blue patchy sky was pictaresque. And
we'll draw a discreet veil over the rest of the afternoon :)
