I wrote about the beasties inhabiting my apartment, in my last journal, little thinking that they'd turn out to be crickets! I mean who has crickets in their apartment? But it all makes sense - I hear them chirping at night. But I honestly thought that it was so unlikely that they were actually crickets that the chirping noise was some kind of artifact of my heating system. All the people who wrote me to identify the creatures as crickets also tried to reassure me that they're harmless. That's not the point! They're nasty, creepy- crawly, scarey-looking, hopping critters and I HATE THEM! :)
I thought that since my last journal entry about politics stirred up such a nest of ... crickets, if I'm to judge by some of the inflamed emails I received (people fail to understand that trying to persuade someone else that their political opinions are incorrect is the biggest waste of time), that I'd make this one a little lighter! Since my project at work has gone into a short holding period, I took some time off at lunch time to go shopping. I came back an hour and a half later laden with bags - it had been my first clothes shopping trip in quite a while. I stopped by the lobby to say hi to my buddy Hunter. He saw all my bags, so I raised them high and said that I'd been on a big shopping expedition - just as my boss walks round the corner! He's based in Kansas City, and he was here on a rare day trip!
Oh well - at least I got some nice clothes even if I'm fired next week. Just joking - he's a cool guy, and he knows I do a good job ... when I actually work :) Anyway, last night I decided to take some photos for today's journal. I hoped they'd be a little more glamorous than my usual photos. I don't know that I suceeded in that respect. Frankly, I don't have the skill (nor the cheekbones :), and I certainly need to do some reading on lighting for photo shoots. But it was fun.

Jeans. Hard to find in a 36 inch inseam. I bought these at the ultra cool new Levi headquarters in Union Square from a tall, sweet 24 year-old called Darrel. When the clerk rang them up, they came up as $42, not $56, so I asked for a second pair. Of course, when she rang them up a second time, they both came out at $56! But my pathetic pleading won the day, and I got them both at the lower price. |

I bought two of these as well - at least they're different colors :) |
Another sleeveless shirt, this time from Levi. |
I don't know about this shirt from Polo Sport - it's vaguely "International Male" so it may end up at the bottom of my closet. |
A sweater from a great store called "Laundry Industry" where, as the salesperson said, everything fits tall, slim guys, because the company is from Holland. |
Now people will probably write to say that my journal is trivial! Jeez, I can't win. :)
