| "Somerset" |
This has been a great trip so far, and not just the weekend in Philadelphia. The last few days have formed one of my most agreeable business trips. I had no idea that the Somerset area of New Jersey was so beautiful, and bucolic. Each day, I drive about half an hour from my hotel to a little office building in Bernadsville. The drive takes me through country roads, past fields, hills and dales, and some beautiful old Victorian cottages.
And I've been working with people who are easy to work with. Unlike most of my business trips, which are usually taken either for training or for determining the requirements for a new consulting project, this one is what they term a knowledge transfer visit. I'm helping one of our customers understand how to use and implement our software to meet a specific goal. The nice thing about such work is that I don't particularly have any responsibilities beyond helping them develop code. No documents to write, no painful business meetings.
And my hotel is very comfortable too, with excellent room service. In fact, the only things I could really complain about the business section of my trip would be the weather, which has been a little wet, at least for the last day, and the fairly long hours. The long hours have left me too tired to do much in the evenings except stuff myself on the company dollar.
It's all over now, and I have the evening in which to relax before driving into New York City tomorrow morning, where I'll be staying with another member of L/GHEI in Chelsea. And that's about it really. Nothing too exciting to write about. But New York will change that, I'm sure.
